Hello and welcome to Tutoring Services Plus blog! I’m so excited you’re here. This space will be a place where I share updates, resources, reflections, and stories from my journey in education and community building. Before we dive into all of that, I want to take a moment to introduce myself, explain why I started Tutoring Services Plus, and share the mission behind everything I do.
My Story

My name is Sherlley Jacques, and I was born and raised right here in St. Lucie County. I’m a proud graduate of Indian River State College (Associate’s in Business) and the University of Central Florida (Bachelor’s in Political Science). Early in my career, I worked in the legal field at a law firm. It was a very exciting opportunity for me at the time, but deep down, I felt pulled toward something more meaningful, which is helping people learn and grow.
That passion led me into the classroom, where I first taught in high schools, and eventually inspired me to build Tutoring Services Plus. Teaching and tutoring allow me to give learners the one-on-one support and encouragement that many people don’t receive in traditional classroom settings. Education has always been close to my heart because I know how life-changing it can be.
Today, I’m also a student myself, pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Keiser University. Being both a teacher and a student gives me a unique perspective. I understand firsthand what it feels like to juggle responsibilities, balance school with personal life, and still push forward toward big dreams. That’s exactly the kind of support I want to provide for my students.
Alongside my studies, I’ve also started sharing my journey on YouTube. From balancing school with running a business, to teaching and community work, I want to give an honest look at what it’s like to chase big dreams while helping others do the same. My channel is a space for encouragement, behind-the-scenes glimpses of Tutoring Services Plus, and reflections on my growth as both an educator and future nurse.

Why I Started Tutoring Services Plus
I started Tutoring Services Plus because I saw a need in my community. Too many adults and students were falling behind simply because they lacked access to the right resources, support, or confidence. My goal was to create a tutoring service that goes beyond academics, a place where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow.
Whether it’s learning English, preparing for the GED, building computer skills, or receiving private one-on-one lessons, Tutoring Services Plus is here to meet learners where they are and help them take the next step forward.

Our mission is clear: “To empower individuals with the skills and confidence they need to succeed by providing high-quality tutoring in English, computer literacy, and personalized private lessons. We are committed to creating a supportive and flexible learning environment that meets the unique needs of each learner, helping them achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals.”
The Nonprofit: Tutoring Services Plus Foundation
As our work grew, I realized the need was even greater than I imagined, especially for adults who wanted to learn and needed a personalized learning environment, but couldn’t afford the cost of classes. That’s why I launched the Tutoring Services Plus Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking down barriers to education.
The Foundation provides free and low-cost education in three main areas:
English Language Learning
Computer Literacy (Coming Soon!)
GED Preparation
Our mission is simple but powerful: “To provide free and low-cost education to adults in English language learning, computer literacy, and GED preparation, empowering individuals to achieve personal and professional growth.”

We’re grounded in our core values:
Empowerment – Uplifting every learner’s voice and potential.
Excellence – Striving for the highest standards.
Integrity – Operating with honesty, transparency, and respect.
Equity – Making education accessible for all.
Compassion – Leading with patience, heart, and care.
These values guide every class, every interaction, and every program we create.
Who We Serve
Tutoring Services Plus and the Foundation primarily serve adults and families in St. Lucie County and surrounding areas. Many of our learners are immigrants, parents, working adults, or individuals returning to school after years away from the classroom. They are motivated, hardworking, and eager to build better futures for themselves and their families.
Every student brings a unique story, and it’s my honor to walk alongside them as they develop new skills and confidence. Education is a powerful and beautiful opportunity that transforms not only individuals but also the generations that follow them. It is why I am so passionate about my mission.
Looking Ahead
This blog is another way for me to connect with you. You may be a student, parent, supporter, or someone simply curious about our mission. Here, I’ll share updates about our programs, tips for learning, reflections from my journey, and stories that inspire me to keep going.
Starting Tutoring Services Plus has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life, and I can’t wait to continue growing this vision with you. Thank you for being here at the very beginning of this blog. I look forward to sharing so much more with you.

With gratitude,
Sherlley Jacques
